A first course works best when it promises a specific task the student can complete. Instead of trying to explain all of digital marketing, an agency can teach people to build their first acquisition plan or review their data quality. This guide proposes a short programme whose value is visible in a real deliverable.
Write the expected outcome in one sentence: “By the end, the student will have a map of their sales process and three prioritised improvements.” Then describe prior knowledge, working time and required materials. If the student needs an account with a tool, say so before enrolment and clarify which parts can be practised using an example.
Design backwards from the final exercise#
Divide the outcome into three or four modules. Each should solve one part of the exercise: describing the current process, identifying losses, choosing indicators and writing an improvement plan. Include a short explanation, demonstration and task. Video duration should reflect the explanation needed, without padding it to appear more substantial.
Use one consistent fictional case throughout the course and identify it as such. You can show how an agency organises enquiries for a service business without exposing client conversations or information. Provide an editable template and a reference solution explaining the decisions made.
Separate learning from the offer#
HighLevel distinguishes course content from the offer used to grant access or sell it. Its documentation covers free, one-time paid and recurring offers; selling requires checking the payment provider and corresponding configuration. Official documentation.
Describe what the offer includes, how access works, the agreed access period and available support. If you promise exercise reviews, assign team capacity before opening enrolment. Avoid including unlimited updates or continuous assistance without a specific process for delivering them.
Test as a student#
- Review the offer page and requirements.
- Complete a test enrolment.
- Check access, navigation and playback of materials.
- Download resources on mobile and desktop.
- Send a support question and verify who receives it.
- Finish the exercise using only the published instructions.
Hypothetical example: five participants try a sales-pipeline course. Three finish the exercise; two stop because they do not understand how to define a stage. Before adding another module, improve that example and repeat the test with someone who has not seen the previous version.
HighLevel provides progress analytics for reviewing advancement and completion. Interpret it alongside exercises and questions received: marking lessons complete does not demonstrate an ability to apply the learning. Official documentation.
Measure initial access, progress, completed deliverables and recurring questions. The next course version should resolve an observed obstacle. This discipline helps keep the programme short, understandable and connected to the outcome you promised.
